The Research Ethics Committee (hereinafter referred to as the “Committee”) was established at the Faculty of Forestry and Wood Sciences (FLD) of the Czech University of Life Sciences (CZU) on 28 April 2026 pursuant to Dean’s Regulation No. 6/2026 Decision on the Establishment of the Research Ethics Committee. Its purpose is to review submitted applications and assess their ethical aspects, particularly in relation to:
a) research involving human participants, including surveys, interviews and participatory research;
b) research involving animals and plants;
c) research with environmental or social impacts in sensitive or protected areas;
d) research involving the use of personal and sensitive data, including data governed by the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
The Committee consists of three members, who are appointed and dismissed by the FLD Dean for a three-year term of office.
The need for an ethical review of proposed research by the Committee is determined by the applicant, who may be an FLD CZU employee or student, or an external researcher conducting research in collaboration with the Faculty.
Applicants are required to submit a request for an ethical review of their research through the official application form available in the UIS Contact Centre. If an external provider or other organisation to which a project proposal, scientific publication or other research output is submitted requires ethical review using its own application form, the applicant shall use that form and, at the same time, complete the FLD application form with any information not requested in the external provider's form. You can find the application in files bellow. Submit filled application via UIS in PDF format.
The application procedure, together with other important information, is set out in Dean's Regulation No. 7/2026 Statute and Rules of Procedure of the Research Ethics Committee.
The Committee shall review submitted applications at its scheduled meetings, which are normally held twice a year (usually at the beginning of each semester), and shall issue a written opinion within no more than 30 calendar days of considering the application for ethical review. In justified cases, the Chair of the Committee may convene an extraordinary meeting outside the published schedule.
