Key Partnerships and Involvement of the Faculty of Forestry and Wood Sciences in International Relations
The Faculty of Forestry and Wood Sciences (FLD) is a member of:
- The International Union of Forest Research Organizations (IUFRO), based in Vienna – the world's leading forestry research organization.
- The European Forest Institute (EFI), based in Joensuu, Finland – the most important forestry research institution in Europe.
Within the framework of the Czech University of Life Sciences (CZU), FLD participates in the activities of the Euroleague for Life Sciences (ELLS) in four Subject Areas: Forestry, Insect Ecology, Bioeconomy, and Molecular Breeding and Plant Biotechnology.
Faculty members are also individual members of many other international bodies and organizations. The faculty currently maintains intensive contacts with numerous foreign universities and research institutions both in Europe and in the Americas, particularly in the following countries (in alphabetical order): Austria, Canada, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, the USA, etc. Visits from many foreign institutions and their interest in our multifunctional forestry and wood sciences, education, and research are evidence of the high level of FLD and provide a strong foundation for further expanding active scientific-research and academic partnerships.
Outside the EU, cooperation is developing especially with universities in Thailand, Laos, the Philippines, and the USA. Bilateral cooperation agreements have been initiated, particularly in the areas of education, science, and research, both at the university level and through more specific agreements at the faculty level.
