Forest pedagogy introduces forest visitors to the forest ecosystem, sustainable forest management, the meaning of forest management, and the benefits that forests bring to humans. Its basic principle is the perception of nature with all senses, which is mediated by specially trained foresters (foresters with pedagogical knowledge and experience) directly in the forest environment. A forest educator is a professional with education or work experience in forestry and a successful graduate of a certified forest pedagogy course fulfilling its essence, who can present the forest through experience, especially in the actual forest environment.
The Faculty of Forestry and Wood Sciences (FLD) of the Czech University of Life Sciences in Prague is a member of the Working Group for Forest Pedagogy, which was established by the Ministry of Agriculture for the purpose of coordinating forest pedagogy in the Czech Republic. Furthermore, the Faculty is a signatory of the Action Plan for a Unified Procedure for the Implementation of Forest Pedagogy in Forestry Entities in the Czech Republic for 2022–2026.
Within the framework of forest pedagogy at FLD, the Faculty organizes the YPEF competition, a summer children's university, and forest pedagogy programmes for children. We also teach a subject of Forestry Education and Forest Pedagogy; its graduates can obtain a forest educator certificate.

Lesárium
The Lesárium forestry exhibition tells the story of a diverse and rich field and its unique concept, which includes elements of the most modern presentation method while preserving the authentic, i.e. natural, impression of the forest environment, and thus conveys it to the general public. Families with children, students, schoolchildren, laypeople and the professional public will appreciate the friendly environment and the method of communication through text panels, interactive features, and audiovisual stimuli. The presentation is designed so that every visitor has the opportunity to experience the forest with all their senses.
The exhibition was created by the Lesy ČZU and the Faculty of Forestry and Wood Science as part of the project To see, feel and live the forest, funded by the EHP Funds 2021-2024.
