Department of Pedagogy focuses primarily on the undergraduate training of teachers at secondary vocational schools and apprenticeships, which meets the requirements of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports for professional qualifications to perform the regulated profession of pedagogical staff (specifically, teachers of practical training and teachers of vocational subjects, not teaching assistants, etc.).
The department offers courses within the framework of accredited bachelor’s degree programmes, within the framework of lifelong learning (i.e. accredited additional pedagogical studies), as well as interest-based educational programmes (i.e. various courses for the University of the Third Age). Current activities include the implementation of the course "Instructor of Practical Training" and the creation of multimedia teaching materials, as well as the ambition to implement the concept of micro-certificates in the curriculum.
The aim of all activities is to provide students with professional education, preparedness for a qualification, a degree of professional adaptability to the conditions and demands of practice, an international overview, attractive topics and the development of digital skills. Of course, students with special educational needs are accepted and supported, including the provision of compensatory aids.
The department has modern ICT, in particular virtual equipment, and software with virtual programmes for training presentation and communication skills, microteaching and practising relaxation techniques. A high degree of autonomy in studying is provided by a sophisticated LMS (Learning Management System) that complies with the rules for distance education, including icons, implementation of different types of multimedia materials and feedback mechanisms.
