Department of Professional and Personal Development focuses on teaching and research in the field of educational and psychological disciplines. The academic staff of the department focuses on methods of personal and professional development, communication and presentation skills, individual and group counselling, support for people with special educational needs, social psychology, and social aspects of education, among others.
The mission of the department is to develop the field of career counselling in accordance with modern trends and experience from abroad.
The department is equipped with modern resources for education and work with people, including technologies to support learning – for example, equipment for virtual reality applications. Microteaching and video training, experiential learning, practice of counselling techniques in model situations or coaching techniques are used to develop counselling skills.
The department's activities also include the comparison of educational systems, the transfer of innovations, the description and analysis of effective learning strategies, innovative and alternative teaching methods and techniques, or the implementation of tools to stimulate and monitor personal development, including research on career paths and the social environment in relation to learning and work.
