Duration of study: 3 years (6 semesters)
Admission procedure: The basic condition for admission to the Bachelor's degree program is to have completed secondary school with a high school diploma and successfully passed the entrance exam. The entrance exam will be in the form of an interview with the applicant, which will assess the applicant's knowledge base in relation to the study program, motivation to study, and ability to communicate in English.
Fee for study: for each commenced year of study for a student from EU countries 500 EUR/ 12 500 CZK, for each commenced year of study for a student from non-EU countries 2 000 EUR/ 50 000 CZK.
The bachelor's degree program is taught in English. Students' study obligations include a one-semester study abroad period, which students must complete in the winter semester of the 2nd year of study at one of the partner universities designated for this study program.
The study program offers comprehensive bachelor's education in the field of forestry, environment, and sustainable use of natural resources. It is focused on the internationalization of education and is intended for both Czech and foreign students. Students will gain theoretical and practical knowledge about the functioning of forest and non-forest ecosystems, bioeconomics, and sustainable management of natural resources. The program also includes economic, legal, and marketing aspects of the use of nature. Emphasis is also placed on the development of soft skills (communication, teamwork, working with information) and on working with modern technologies such as GIS, remote sensing, AI, and data analysis. The teaching reflects current topics, such as climate change, and prepares graduates for practical application and further study.
The state final exam is taken before a committee. The student defends a bachelor's thesis and takes exams in three comprehensive subjects: 1.Ecology and Ecophysiology (Ecology and Natural Resources, Tree Ecophysiology, Wildlife Behavioral Ecology); 2.Forest and Natural Resource Management (Sustainable Forest Management, Ecological Principles in Forest Protection, Adaptive Silviculture, Wildlife Managament); 3. Economics and Politics (Economics in Natural Resource Management, Forest-based Bioeconomy, Environmental Policy).
Graduates of the bachelor's program Sustainable Forest and Natural Resources Management receive the academic degree Bc. After that they can apply for a follow-up master's program (Forest Science In Global Change) or go into practice where they apply themselves in developing countries or within EU institutions, in international relations in addressing the global perspective on forests and forestry in Europe and the world and in other areas.
