The February issue of Svět psů (Dogs World) magazine (2/2026) featured an interview with Kateřina Benediktová from the Faculty of Forestry and Wood Sciences at the Czech University of Life Sciences Prague, which explores the fascinating topic of dogs' orientation in the landscape.

The interview focuses on the question of how dogs are able to find their way back to their owner or to their starting point even after long and complex movements in the terrain. The scientist explains what we know about this sense today and how magnetoreception research is conducted in practice. She also explains what can happen when this orientation mechanism fails.
