The taxidermy studio functions as a classroom and a workshop for taxidermy subjects taught within Conservation of natural objects and taxidermy. Primarily, practical lessons in taxidermy of mammals, birds, fish, amphibians, and reptiles take place here.
Both rooms serve as “clean” parts of the taxidermy process and follow-up activities are carried out here which follow the basic processing in the “unclean” part of the operation in the dissecting room in the Hi-Tech Pavilion. Both rooms are fully equipped with machines, tools, and materials for modern creative taxidermy activities.
In the studio, practical taxidermy activities take place: creating and modifying anatomical models, putting the tanned skins onto the prepared anatomical models, drying the preparations, and their finalization.
Another part of the taxidermy process is modelling associated with the creation of artificial parts of animal bodies and artificial components for habitats or dioramas that complement taxidermy installations. The studio is equipped for all these activities, also from the point of view of occupational health and safety.
Outside of classes, students can use the studio for independent creative work. Here, students can work on their own installations, semester works, and competition works.
