Description: A systematic network of 151 permanent research plots, where growth and water deficit measurements of 750 trees (10 species in total) are continuously carried out on a climatic gradient from lowlands to mountains.

Topic: MONITORING THE STATUS AND DEVELOPMENT OF DEAD STANDING WOOD AFTER BARK BEETLE OUTBREAKS
Description: The research project focuses on finding information about dead standing wood in forest stands. These dead trees develop as a result of several adverse factors: extreme drought, windstorms, unsuitable species composition, and bark beetle infestation.

Topic: SYSTEMATIC INVENTORY OF FORESTS USING MODERN TECHNOLOGIES
Description: As part of the LIFE Adapt Brdy research project, we focus on the systematic inventory of forests, namely the measurement of areas using modern technologies (ground laser scanner, mobile laser scanner, photogrammetry), as well as conventional measurement approaches (calliper, laser altimeter, etc.). Terrestrial measurements will be combined with aerial and satellite data in the future. Data processing will take place in R using the FORTLS package.

Topic: MAPPING THE HEALTH STATUS OF FORESTS, WOODY SPECIES, AND FOREST RISKS USING INNOVATIVE ICT DATA AND APPROACHES
Description: The goal of the research project is to map the intensity of bark beetle infestation and determine its generation. As part of the project, an active LiDAR sensor is used. The data is subsequently classified and a map of the risk of bark beetle infestation is generated.

  Topic: ESTABLISHING A FOREST

Description: A set of temporary research plantings in a former ornamental nursery in conditions of lower middle altitudes. Testing growth dynamics of planting material of different dimensions, testing growth stimulators (bio-algeen, brassinosteroids), testing planting material coated with PostCont technology, birch species Betula pubescens subsp. Carpatica, Betula oycoviensis –  archive of tree offspring that have undergone genetic analyses. A total of about 7 000 individuals; some experiments already published, closed, and replaced by new ones.
Monitored parameters: growth – height, thickness (periodically); soil analyses, chlorophyll content, root analyses (occasionally); climate (continuously).

Description: A systematic network of 170 permanent research plots within the REMOTE project, where measuring and checking the parameters listed below are continuously carried out.
Monitored parameters: periodically – growth (height, thickness), occasionally – soil analyses, tree position, regrowth, occurrence of tree microhabitats, volume and decomposition of lying dead wood, light conditions, mortality, biodiversity.

Topic: FOREST RESTORATION ON POLLUTION-DAMAGE CLEARING
Description: Partial plantings within a larger area established by VÚLHM, Opočno research station. Various experiments (fertilization, different tree species, type of planting material) on a former pollution-damage clearing in higher mountain conditions. Most of the sub-experiments have already been evaluated and published and are currently only occasionally monitored. Tens of thousands of trees, only a selection regularly monitored. However, it is an interesting excursion object. LČR property, cooperation with a state owner.
Monitored parameters: growth – height, thickness, analysis of nutrient content in leaves, chlorophyll analysis (periodically in the past); soil analyses, nutrient analyses in different sections of sample trees (occasionally in the past); deposition of pollutants (continuously in the past); climate (currently continuous).

Description: Model planting and underplanting centre at the "Panelka" site, whose goal is to introduce deciduous trees (rowan, downy birch) into conifer stands. Testing of planting material of different dimensions and point fertilization in the conditions of a mountain frost hollow. Total about 2 000 individuals. LČR property, cooperation with a state owner.

Description: Young forest stands based on arable land in a rainfall-poor area of lower altitudes (Polabí, north of Prague). Testing the effect of soil conditioners (alginite) on survival and growth, later on the evaluation of the growth dynamics of different tree species combinations is planned (pine, oak, maple, Douglas fir, northern red oak). These are two separate establishments: Předboj and Čenkov. Total about 18 000 saplings. Cooperation with a private owner, cooperation with VÚMOP.

Testing different tree species combinations, including unusual and more thermophilous species potentially usable in the conditions of the considered climate change (pine, oak, lime tree, hornbeam, wild service tree, sweet chestnut, hybrid plane, black walnut, Turkish hazel, metasequoia, cedar, sequoia). Cooperation with a private owner. A total of about 10 000 seedlings, regularly measured selection, about 5 000 individuals.
