The aim of the project is to develop automated, low-cost methods and procedures for evaluating the success of forest regeneration on clear-cut areas and the subsequent development of young forest stands. The project focuses on monitoring clear-cuts, ensuring regeneration establishment, and assessing young stand development up to canopy closure using modern technologies including remote sensing, unmanned aerial vehicles (drones), and artificial intelligence. An additional objective is to propose effective remedial measures in cases where reforestation of clear-cut areas fails to meet expectations. These outcomes will contribute to sustainable forest management and improved handling of post-disturbance reforestation in the context of climate change.
