Name of programme: TAČR Doprava 2020+

Project number: CK02000097

Investigator: doc. Ing. Tomáš Kušta, Ph.D.

Contact person: doc. Ing. Tomáš Kušta, Ph.D., kusta@fld.czu.cz

Implementation period: 2021-2023

The aim of the project is to analyze current and selected preventive measures which are being used or could be used in prevention of animal-vehicle collisions on secondary roads. The reactions of drivers and changes in car velocities around Beware Animals traffic signs will be investigated. The effect of olfactory repellents as well as other safety measures (reflectors, acoustic devices) will be statistically analyzed on the basis of wildlife mortality. We will further utilize telemetric collars with biologging technology in order to test the effectiveness of these measures. A decision support tool will be an output of the project. It will serve to help responsible workers in the process of evaluation of the suggested safety measures at particular road sections.
