The project fully responds to the Ministry of Agriculture's research needs concerning a) constructions determined to fulfil forest functions and b) the impact of forest transportation network on water regime. The project aims to provide technical guidelines and project documentation for designing forest transportation network structures. The project should obtain objective data on:
- changes in the water regime after the application of runoff and erosion control measures,
- changes in erosion risk,
- possible measures to increase water retention in the forest soil,
- the response of woody plants to the changes in water regime.
The project also aims to quantify the financial and non-financial benefits of forest transportation network structures.
