Welcome to Listy z lesa (“Leaves from the Forest”), the magazine of the Faculty of Forestry and Wood Sciences of the Czech University of Life Sciences in Prague. Its aim is to show the general public that the fields of forestry and wood science are both topical and attractive. As a public university, we consider it necessary to consistently fulfil our mission which, in addition to educational and scientific research activities, also includes the transfer of knowledge into practice, communication with the public, and social responsibility.
We believe that every reader across all age categories with different professional interests will find a section that will interest them, broaden their horizons, or at least entertain them.
The fourth number of the Leaves from the Forest presents new scientific findings in a popular-scientific way, such as new downhill ski cores in semi-cooperation with Kästle, as well as the background of our students and staff, including the introduction of a new project - the wood building of the Forestry Building, which will serve the educational needs of students. It also features interviews with our students and alumni, several pages of entertainment for children and recipes for preparing game. You'll learn about the Forestarium exhibit and its amenities, and new podcast episodes focused on the bark beetle calamity or urban tree care.
