YPEF - National Round 2023

On the 5-6th June, the campus of the Faculty of Forestry and Wood Sciences of the Czech University of Life Sciences in Prague and Lesy ČZU became the venue for the finals of the 13th annual Young People in European Forests international competition. On the first day, the contestants did a written test in English about European forestry and presented their ideas on the topic „Life without wood“; on the second day, they were subjected to practical tasks in the field. In the end, even bad weather did not interrupt the continuity of the competition, so the participants could gradually perform tasks from the field of forest protection, silviculture, botany, dendrometry, dendrology, logging, hunting, and woodworking. The winners were officially announced in the presence of representatives of the competition‘s partners. In the category of younger pupils (up to 15 years old), the team from Starý Jičín Primary School won, consisting of: Jana Adamcová, Martina Adamcová, and Terezie Michalíková. In the category of older pupils (16-20 years old), the team from Gymnázium nad Alejí triumphed, represented by Terezá Vávrová, Ondřej Šverma, and Šimon Hájek.
