Project annotation:
The subject of this project focuses on research and development with the aim of developing two web portals. The first is the Forestry Commodities Portal, which will facilitate trades, especially with wood, through auctions or direct sales. The second portal will be the Forestry Geoportal, which will complement the Forestry Commodities Portal with geospatial information and also serve users as a web alternative for accessing their forestry maps.
What problem does the project deal with?
The project deals with both insufficient opportunities in the purchase and sale of forestry commodities and complicated access to digital forestry maps.
Causes of the problem:
The reasons for the absence of similar trading portals include: a) the bark beetle calamity and related low wood prices and disruption of long-term trading practices, b) the COVID-19 pandemic, c) internal problems of previous solution providers. The absence of a forestry geoportal as a sector-specific web application for operation is due to the sequential development of the project coordinator (i.e. IterSoft s.r.o. Choceň) products. This is the last part missing to consider the entire applications universe as multiplatform.
Project goal:
The goal of the project is to create two internet portals based on the knowledge gained from research and development activities. The portals will offer significant efficiency improvements in the forestry management. Newly acquired knowledge from research and development can be used in further business activities or in another research and development activities.
Expected changes as a result of project implementation:
As a direct result of the project implementation, an increase in revenue and acceleration of research and development activities in companies is expected. Revenue growth will be achieved by reaching a wider range of customers and also through profit margins that the project coordinator will collect based on arranging trades with forestry commodities.
