On Friday, May 22, 2026, a Swiss and Czech delegation visited the Faculty of Forestry and Wood Sciences at the Czech University of Life Sciences ( CZU) as part of the Swiss-Czech Cooperation Program. The meeting was attended by representatives of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO), the Swiss Contribution Office in Prague, the Ministry of Finance of the CZ, the Ministry of the Environment of the CZ, and other partner institutions.
During the visit, experts from the FLD presented five projects supported by the “Sustainable Tourism and Enhancing Biodiversity” Program, funded under the Second Swiss Contribution:
- CH-V1-28 Enhancing Biodiversity of Selected Taxonomic Groups in Selected Forest Habitats Owned by Czech Forest State Enterprise and Other Partners
- CH-V2-36 Nepůvodní a invazní druhy v měnícím se lese: potřeba znát rizika i možnosti
- CH-V2-38 Krása bez hranic – hrozba bez kontroly
- CH-V2-39 Green Balance: sustainable tourism in suburban forests (CZE-CHTURBIO)
- CH-V2-27 Municipal Forests of Hradec Králové as a model area for environmental education and awareness in sustainable tourism
Project CH-V1-28 is supported under Call No. 1 of the program and, with a budget of nearly 75 million crowns, is among the major initiatives focused on supporting biodiversity and protecting forest ecosystems. The remaining four projects were supported under the program’s small grant call and focus, for example, on invasive species, environmental education, or sustainable tourism in suburban forests.
The visit confirmed the importance of international cooperation in promoting biodiversity, sustainable land management, and the sharing of experiences between Czech and Swiss partners.
