CZU at the Kick-off Meeting of the FORADVISE Project

From March 4-6, 2025, the kick-off meeting of the international FORADVISE project took place in Girona, Spain. The project aims to connect European forest advisory organizations and foster innovation in this sector. The Faculty of Forestry and Wood Sciences (FLD) was represented by First Vice-Dean Radek Rinn and colleagues Diana Carolina Huertas Bernal and Martin Čabrada from the Department of Forestry and Wood Economics.

The project brings together experts from across Europe to analyse existing advisory services, identify their shortcomings, and develop more effective strategies to support sustainable forestry. As part of the project, CZU coordinates Work Package 6 (WP6), which focuses on the economic evaluation of forest advisory services and the development of tools for their optimization.

During the meeting, participants engaged in presentations of individual work packages, data collection workshops, and discussions on collaboration with other European initiatives such as EU FarmBook, FOREST4EU, and FOREXT. The event also included a field visit, during which participants visited:

  • The headquarters of the Association of Forest Owners of Catalonia (Consorci Forestal de Catalunya)
  • Their cork production association, Quality Suber
  • A forest in the Vall d’en Bas area, part of the Marteloscope network for training in forest ecosystem management

The kick-off meeting, led by the European Forest Institute (EFI), the project coordinator, has accelerated the initial project activities, with the first interim results expected later this year.

FLD thanks all partners for a productive meeting and looks forward to further collaboration!
