Faculty of Forestry and Wood Sciences of CZU Prague participates in the R&D project "Forestry Commodities Portal and Forestry Geoportal". This project is implemented in cooperation with IterSoft s.r.o. with the support of the Ministry of Industry and Trade under the Operational Programme Technology and Applications for Competitiveness.
Project objectives:
The main objective is to develop two innovative web portals:
Forestry Commodities Portal: A platform for trading timber and other forestry commodities, which will enable auctions and direct sales.
Forestry Geoportal: An application integrating geospatial data that will facilitate access to forestry maps and enhance forest management capabilities.
Why is the project important?
The project responds to current issues in forest management, such as the disruption of business practices caused by the bark beetle calamity, the COVID-19 pandemic and the limited possibilities of digital forest map management. The implementation of these portals will bring significant improvements in trade and management efficiency in the forestry sector.
Benefits:
The new system is expected to increase business revenues through wider customer outreach and optimised business processes. It will also support the development of forestry research and development.
The project, which can bring about fundamental changes in forestry and thus contribute to the sustainable use of forest resources, will run until June 2026. The principal investigator for the FLD CZU Prague is Ing. Jiří Dvořák, Ph.D.
