On 29–30 July, our Faculty came alive with curious secondary school students for a two-day summer workshop that brought together forests, wood, and plenty of hands-on experiences under one roof. The first day focused on forestry and hunting, with participants exploring modern topics, getting to know the Faculty, trying out a harvester simulator, and learning about both current threats and benefits to our forests. The second day featured wood, taking participants from raw material to finished product through practical exercises. Students went home with new knowledge, as well as a substrate on which they could grow, for example, an oyster mushroom. The programme also included a themed quiz, certificates, and plenty of laughter! The workshop demonstrated how FLD combines nature with technology and science with practice, and perhaps it even helped some participants discover the direction of their future steps.
