On 24-25 April 2025 in Brdy, the Faculty of Forestry and Wood Sciences of CZU in cooperation with VLS organized three international workshops within the LIFE Adapt Brdy project. The two-day meeting at the Tři Trubky Hunting Lodge welcomed foresters, experts and representatives of state and academic institutions from six European countries. Each workshop had a different afternoon programme, focusing on specific target groups and topics.
The Stakeholder Information Dissemination Workshop took place primarily in the field, specifically at the Kudibal demonstration site. There, the transition to selective management is gradually taking place. Participants discussed appropriate stand splitting and the choice of harvesting technologies.
The LIFE Project Upscaling Workshop offered sharing of experiences from other LIFE projects across Europe. The block of inspiring presentations was followed by a field trip to the revitalized source area of the Voložný Brook.
The workshop of the Advisory Board was mainly devoted to the evaluation of the project outputs so far - the Hunting Management Concept, the General Management Guidelines and the Methodological Guide for Foresters.
Friday morning offered an attractive accompanying programme, namely an excursion of the VLS to the Padrta Ponds with an interpretation of the management of the surrounding landscape. This was followed by an interesting mini-workshop on the use of drones and modern technologies for forest monitoring, prepared by scientists from the Faculty of Forestry and Wood Technology of the Czech University of Life Sciences in Prague.
The final feedback showed that the participants were very satisfied with the course and content of the event - they appreciated both the professional quality and practical usefulness and the inspiring environment of Brda.
Thanks to the workshops, new contacts were established with the promise of further cooperation in the future.
