The Faculty of Forestry and Wood Sciences of the CZU in Prague is involved in the international project SNĚŽNICKÝ ZWORNIK II, which aims to improve the condition of protected areas in the central part of the Hrubý Jeseník and Králický Sněžník. The project is being implemented under the Interreg Czechia-Poland Programme 2021-2027 and will run from June 2025 to September 2029.
Together with the main coordinator - the Nature Conservation Agency of the Czech Republic and other Czech and Polish partners, FLD CZU will work on the implementation of coordinated monitoring of nature and tourism, protection of rare species and promotion of sustainable management in mountain areas. The activities will include, for example, monitoring of forest ecosystems, grazing and mowing of alpine grasses or installation of barriers and information boards to guide the movement of visitors.
The project will contribute to increasing the resilience of mountain ecosystems to climate change and help mitigate the negative impacts of mass tourism. The result should be professionally managed and cross-border coordinated conservation of natural heritage with a long-term positive impact on the ecological stability of the border landscape.
The project investigator for the CZU is Ing. Vojtěch Čada, Ph.D. from FLD.
