Nemozoma elongatum is a predator specialized in bark beetles, particularly Pityogenes chalcographus and Taphrorychus bicolor. The study confirmed that it responds to artificial lures containing the aggregation pheromones of both species, showing a preference for P. chalcographus. Although these lures are not suitable for direct use in traps due to the risk of unintended capture of the predator itself, they can be employed in biological control—i.e., to attract predators to areas with higher pest densities. The results showed that the abundance of N. elongatum in traps was influenced by the presence of both prey species and the proximity of clear-cut areas in spruce stands. The species proved to be a flexible predator, responding to various bark beetle chemical cues as well as volatile compounds emitted by host trees.

Nemozoma elongatum: predátor, který sleduje chemické stopy kůrovců
Nemozoma elongatum je predátor specializující se na kůrovce, zejména Pityogenes chalcographus a Taphrorychus bicolor. Studie potvrdila, že reaguje na umělé atraktanty obsahující feromony obou druhů, přičemž preferuje P. chalcographus. Přestože tyto atraktanty nejsou vhodné pro přímé použití v lapacích kvůli možnému nežádoucímu odchytu samotného predátora, mohou být využity k biologické ochraně – tedy k nalákání predátorů do oblastí s vyšším výskytem škůdců. Výsledky ukázaly, že početnost N. elongatum v lapacích byla ovlivněna jak přítomností obou kořistních druhů, tak blízkostí holin ve smrkových porostech. Druh se ukázal jako flexibilní predátor, reagující na různé chemické signály kůrovců i těkavé látky stromů hostitelů.
